Shirin Moayyad
Coffee Buyer

Peet’s Team Member since 2006

Shirin began her formative years in the industry living in the coffee growing highlands of Papua New Guinea. She resided on a 98-acre coffee estate where she managed a coffee roasting and exporting company. She also lived eight years in Singapore where she was both roaster and buyer for a small specialty chain, President of the Singapore Coffee Association and active in the judging of Asian barista competitions.

Shirin was a contributing writer to the Asian Tea & Coffee journal, a cupping workshop trainer for the growing Asian specialty market, as well as a judge for numerous international cupping competitions.

Together with the Peet’s team, Shirin purchases green coffee requirements for Peet’s and nurtures key relationships with coffee countries of origin. Additionally, she helps maintain and create new blends through sampling all roasts, a task which can amount to tasting up to 100 cups of coffee a day.

Shirin’s personal passion is fueled by the ability to use her profession as a means of positively impacting the communities from which she buys coffee.

Our Roasters

Peet’s Team Members since 1990

Our highly trained roasters are dedicated to making sure the roast tastes right for every batch of coffee. They monitor air temperature and combine beans in perfectly blended proportions to bring out their most flavorful and distinctive characteristics. They also personally sample every batch.

Our roasters enjoy the people they work with every day and find great satisfaction in roasting great-tasting coffee. They’re quick to share their passion for being close to the coffee at all stages: smelling the green coffee, focusing on the transformation of the roasting coffee, and finally through the cupping process to taste the results of deep-roasted coffee.

Each roaster makes a 10-year commitment to Peet’s and is considered a master of the craft only after three to four years of training.
